Local Amenities
When you stay at Rabbit Hill, you can walk to the ocean for a close-up view of the rugged eastern coastline and the Atlantic’s waves crashing on the rocky shore. Barbados is known for its fabulous beaches along the west coast, just a 10- to 15-minute drive away.
Also within ten minutes driving time, you can shop at one of the local stores for groceries, sundries and fresh fish including tuna, flying fish, barracuda, swordfish, dolphin fish and shark. Many supermarkets in Barbados are stocked with Western food as well as local items.
We recommend a rental car, which can be reserved upon request; however, many of our guests have used the excellent local bus transportation accessible to the property. The bus comes by hourly, and transports visitors to Bridgetown’s city center, or any point on the island. Remember that if you choose to rent a car, you must drive on the left side of the road here in British fashion. Barbados is also home to a number of taxis, or you may want to rent a bicycle or moped for some of your exploring.
Picturesque walking trails will lead you through Rabbit Hill’s scenic grounds and along the striking coastline. You can follow an old abandoned sugar cane railway track for hours of breathtaking hiking. And kids of all ages love the ice cream truck that visits the property twice each week.
In the area you can enjoy a full range of sporting activities, fine restaurants, art galleries and superb shopping. Barbados is rich in Caribbean culture, which blends smoothly and comfortably with Western culture. When you stay at Rabbit Hill, you can walk to Bathsheba, one of the world’s leading surfing coasts that serves as a venue for international competitions. You’ll also enjoy proximity to Sam Lord’s Castle, Crane Beach, Conset Bay, famous St. John’s Church cathedral, Andromeda Botanical Garden, Harrison Caves, scuba diving and snorkeling. Bath Beach, which offers a children’s beach and playground, is a 10-minute drive, and the world-renowned Crane Beach is only 15 minutes away.
