Rabbit Hill is located in the village of Glenburnie on the east coast of Barbados in St. John’s Parish, just outside the fishing village of Martin’s Bay. This five-acre property overlooking the Atlantic Ocean is privately owned by a Canadian family, and rented to guests when not in use by family members.

Picture yourself and your family immersed in a tropical setting, with the fruit of 500 banana trees at your disposal, plus mangoes, guavas, oranges, grapefruit, limes, lemons and breadfruit grown on the grounds. Just remember, you’ll have to share with the families of spider monkeys who scamper across the grounds early in the morning to help themselves to the luscious fruit right from the trees.

Did you know that because of Barbados’ limestone formation and lack of volcanoes, the island has some of the safest and best-tasting water in the world?

Bordered by cliffs on one side, Rabbit Hill is located in a rustic corner of the village, just a 40 minute drive from downtown Bridgetown (Barbados’ capitol city), and 25 minutes from the airport but is removed from the hubbub of the bustling tourist area. With only local traffic using the road, you might notice three or four vehicles go by an hour.

The property suits guests looking for privacy, peace and quiet, and an escape from a harried everyday life. Ideal for children, Rabbit Hill has a pool and ample space for running and playing while under the supervision of parents relaxing to the soothing sounds of the Atlantic surf. A 120-foot palm tree-lined driveway leads you to a bright, airy home that has been recently renovated with an artistic Caribbean flavor. Not your run-of-the-mill villa, Rabbit Hill’s FOUR-bedroom, 2-bathroom bungalow can comfortably sleep eight, with 1 King, two queen and two twin beds. This casual home and large 800 sq. ft. veranda surrounds you with Caribbean-inspired furnishings and decor, playing on the blues, pinks and pastels that dot the island’s architecture. Comfortably rustic, the rattan furniture and bright, airy design of the home conveys a true island feel.

The interior living area adjoins a very large covered veranda that overlooks the swimming pool and provides inspiring vistas of landscaped gardens and the ocean.The veranda is actualy the main living area of the house with comfortable seating, hamocks and a dining table that seats ten.The ceiling fans and lighting on the veranda make the veranda area usable days and evenings to fully experiance the beautiful Caribbean climate. The home is equipped with a telephone, barbecue, laundry facilities, and two bathrooms, plus guests find the pool side shower handy as well. Fresh linens and towels are provided.

Although Rabbit Hill is off the beaten track, the bus comes by once an hour for forays into downtown Bridgetown. Shop, dine out and sightsee when you want to, rather than being thrust into busy surroundings on a daily basis.

Enjoy experimenting with island flavors in the well-equipped kitchen, or we can arrange for you to hire a cook and a maid during your stay. The kitchen is supplied with a microwave, stove, fridge, filtered coffee machine, toaster, blender and ice maker (no dishwasher). If you’d like, we can arrange for the fridge to be stocked with basic food supplies upon arrival, including milk, butter, eggs, bread, orange juice, coffee, tea, beer and pop, upon request.

Barbados is a peaceful island inhabited by friendly, well-educated residents who respect the visitors that the tourism industry brings their way. The island has one of the lowest crime rates in the Caribbean, and Rabbit Hill is situated in a small, safe village. For your added peace of mind, security bars have been installed.
